HI Everyone!

I just discovered this site and I feel happy to find other chicken-pickers out there! I play guitar and pedal steel. Great playing on the intro video Doug! I think I am going to have to buy your DVD!

;DDoug 7!!!!!!! Dude you are truly the BEST i have heard. Maybe that don't mean much coming from an old "stiff armed drummer" But you are truly blessed with talent. Dude if you ever get a chance and want to fish/jam or what have ya--------------please come over and we''ll reminisce about old times.

dude---i hope this DVD series is a huge hit---cause you truly deserve it. i know that all the Nashville pickers are shaking in their shoes hoping that you stay in Columbus.

God bless you buddy~ ;D

Hello everyone! I guess I'm one of the "old Geezers" out there that are still pickin'.........I played full time in the Los Angeles area from 1963 through '85 and had a great time. I moved to Virginia at the end of '85 to take a city job which my brother in law (Chief of Police) had arranged.......It's all in who you know! I retired in Oct. of '05 and am playing a lot again. I played all the while I was working in a variety of bands and am still doing the same. I play lead guitar, mostly on an '83 Tele with a Parsons/White B-Bender. I also play pedal steel and have a S-12 BMI with 8 floor pedals and 5 knee levers. I also do some work with an Elvis Impersonator playing both Tele and an Epiphone Zephyr Blues Deluxe which looks like an old natural Gibson archtop with three P-90s on board. I also do an occasional mandolin gig with some local bluegrass bands but really don't like to play "unplugged" if I can help it. I'm a fan of the late Clarence White and actually met him and knew him slightly when he was working locally in the LA area. I hope to contribute something to the Forum and get something from it as well. I tried to register but it wouldn't take for some reason.............JH in Va.

Hi,
My name is Al from New Jersey.
Been playing since 1968, still gig weekly.
Been playing Tele's and Strat parts guitars since 1980.
Got Doug's DVD last year, awesome.
Have an ebay store at "washde2" that handles a good cross section of Tele, Strat and Jazz bass parts, check it out and let me know if I can be of service.
Doug, great luck on this great idea.
Best wishes,
Al

Hi Doug.....

I will be ordering your DVD'S by Money Order, sending it off from Bangkok, Thailand. Looks like a lotta practice to get them chops down!!
Lookin' forward to bucklin' down and diggin' into this material.

I'm not much of a country picker myself (yet), more straight ahead Classic Rock, a bit of fusion, funk and blues, but it's something I really wanted to get into and am really excited to see such an excellent program available.

It'll take a lotta work to get my 2003 USA Black Telecaster (White Pickguard) sounding that cool....

Thanks,

Jack in Bangkok

Strat..There is an editor called. 'Audacity', that is a free download. I play hot licks on my computer and record them on it by pressing 'Record" and then, select all, and slow down the music in the effects so I can keep up with the notes. My 71 year old fingers still have trouble finding the right strings. 'chuckle'

Doug; Great site. I'd give a finger almost to do just half of what you do!

Hey everyone,

My name is Steve. I live in Ontario, Canada and I play mainly classic rock and blues but recently have become intrigued with Doug's style of playing. I haven't ordered the DVD's yet but plan to in the near future to add some cool country licks to my repertoire. I'm sure I'll have many questions along the way so that's why I registered on this forum. I probably don't have much to offer everyone else but will add my $0.02where I can.

Hi Doug, been picking for over 40 years, always been hampered by finger speed and not being able to improvise. I do play with a pick and use middle finger for upstrokes. Play by ear and can play melodies all day long. Which of your DVD's do you recommend I try first ,second, etc?

Thanks a bunch.

pete

Hey Doug,
Rickster here....finally had a chance to join the forum...have really enjoyed the video's you sent via email....finally breaking out and taking my guitar playing to another level....of course with your help:-).....hope you show some more magic chords...preferably the minor chords that fall in with each of your 3 magic shape patterns.....I think I have figured them out but want to make sure I'm on the same page as you......I'm using the ole rule of thumb (I, IIm, IIIm, IV, V, VIm, VII dim) with each one of your magic shape groups/patterns......am I in the ball park? ....from there I'm using the scales major, major pentatonic and minor pentatonic in conjunction with your magic chords and applying as you suggested on your video.....I keep forcing myself to play songs using your magic chord patterns and breaking away from using open chords all the time...has really changed my way of thinking......thanks for everything...you've showed me a new dimension to play in.......look forward to learning more...Again Thank You!!!!!.....RICKSTER
